Goals in each half from Habtamu Tadesse were enough for Bahir Dar to upset Tunisian side Club African 2-0 in home turf in the first leg of their TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup second round.
Bahir Dar Ketema was once agin forced to play behind close door as they welcomed the mighty Club African in the second round qualifiers, Degareg Yigzaw made only a change in goal from the side that edged Azam Fc as Ivorian goalie Pep Seidu was selected between the sticks in place of Alazar Marcos.
In what was an equally poised first half both sides had chances to open the scoring especially in the early exchanges.As the regular 45 minutes ended the home side took the lead in added minutes.
Habtamu Tadesse netted from close range after Fitsum Tilahun’s attempt was blocked by Club African players giving his side the advantage going into the second half.
Second half was more less the same as the first one with clear cut chances being far and few.
As the game fast approached its conclusion Bahir Dar Ketema made fast break into Club African’s box through Duressa Shubisa who set up Habtamu Tadesse to his second goal of the game.
The intriguing return leg would take place in 14 days time at the stade Hammadi Agrebi in Tunis.
