New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill announced that Morocco’s national football team will establish its training headquarters in New Jersey during the FIFA World Cup 2026™. The team will prepare for the tournament at The Pingry School throughout the competition.
The announcement was made alongside Moroccan Ambassador to the United States Youssef Amrani and FIFA World Cup 2026™ NYNJ Host Committee CEO Alex Lasry.
Governor Sherrill said New Jersey is proud to welcome Morocco and football fans from around the world for the upcoming tournament. She noted that nearly 10,000 residents of Moroccan heritage live in New Jersey, making the partnership especially meaningful for the local community. According to the governor, hosting international teams highlights New Jersey’s growing importance during the World Cup and offers an opportunity to showcase the state on a global level.
Ambassador Amrani expressed appreciation for the warm reception from New Jersey officials and The Pingry School. He emphasized that football has the power to connect people and cultures, adding that Morocco looks forward to building lasting relationships during its stay in the United States.

Morocco is also scheduled to play Brazil at MetLife Stadium on June 13 in one of the tournament’s major group-stage matches.
The Pingry School has a history with international football events, previously serving as a training location during the 1994 FIFA World Cup. Its recently upgraded Miller Bugliari ’52 World Cup Field now includes two professional-level grass pitches and modern sports facilities designed for elite athletes.
New Jersey is expected to host four national teams during the tournament. In addition to Morocco, other teams will soon be announced for training camps at facilities including Columbia Park in Morris Township, Stockton University, and Rutgers University.
