Addis giants Kidus Giorgis will play their home leg CAF Champions League preliminary round game against Seychelles champions Saint Michel United FC in Addis Ababa.
The Horsemen initially proposed to play away from the capital in Hawassa Stadium. Nevertheless, inside sources have revealed to Soccer Ethiopia that the club opted to play in Addis Ababa instead.
The Ethiopian Football Federation inquired to CAF for inspection of Hawassa Stadium to host international games. Experts from CAF have inspected the stadium and it is expected the African Football governing body will decide whether the stadium is eligible to host international games.
Giorgis last season hosted Algerian side MC El Eluma in Bahirdar Stadium emerging victorious 2-1 even though they bow out on away goal rule. Now it looks the Horsemen won’t be traveling away from Addis Ababa for the second time running.
The last time Giorgis played a Champions League game in Addis Ababa was against Egyptian giants Zamalek in a two all draw in 2013.
