The opening day fixtures of game week 18 saw Hadiya Hossana and Arbamich Ketema playing out an eight goal thriller while leaders Kidus Giorgis maintained their fine form.
The free scoring 3 pm kick off between Hadiya Hossana and Arbamich Ketema witnessed three late goals as Hadiya stunned Arbamich to salvage a point in a frantic finale.
Arbamich Ketema were on top for the majority of the 90 minutes and went on to lead 4-1 until the 80th minute inspired by Ahmed Hussein’s Hat-trick.
The winter recruit Ahmed Hussien who joined Arbamich from Wolkite Ketema seem to enjoy life with his new employees, Tsegaye Abera also added another for Arbamich while Fikreyesu T/Birhane pulled one back for Hadiya from the spot.
In the final 10 minutes, Arbamich Ketema left their foot off the pedal and invited pressure from Hadiya Hossana and eventually their shambling defensive structure started to crumble.
On the 80th minute, Habtamu Tadesse’s strike ignited Hadiya Hossana’s spirit for a comeback as spirited Hadiya added a couple of goals in the 88th and 90+4 minutes through defenders Henock Arficho and Birhanu Bekele to earn a hard fought one point.
Arbamich Ketema and Hadiya Hossana are 8th & 9th in the standing with 23 & 22 points.
In the 6 pm kickoff, Kidus Giorgis thrash Dire Dawa Ketema 3-0 to extend their lead at the top of the log to 40 points with three successive wins in a row.
Ghanaian Defender Frimpong Mensu opened the scoring once again from a dead ball situation, he then went on to add a second in the second half with a sublime free kick.
Abel Yalew added the third for Kidus Giorgis after a beautiful exchange of passes between his teammates.
