Dire Dawa Ketema finally won after sinking Jimma Aba Jiffar while Wolaita Dicha once again missed their opportunity to cut the deficit with league leaders as they lost to Ethiopia Bunna in day two action of game week 19.
In the early kickoff, Dire Dawa enjoyed their first Premier League win after eight game weeks as goals from Gadissa Mebrate and Henock Ayele gave them a 2-1 win in a relegation six pointer against Jimma Aba Jiffar.
The first half of the game witnessed Jimma’s dominance in possession and they succeeded in pushing Dire back, but in the second half, Dire Dawa adjusted their midfield by introducing Biruk Kalbore and Abel Kebede.
Those changes were crucial for Dire Dawa as they went on to register their 5th win of the campaign after eight matches.
The result lifted Dire Dawa one place into the 13th spot with 20 points, while Jimma Aba Jiffare yet to win in the last six games are still 15th with 12 points.
In the 6pm kickoff between Ethiopia Bunna and Wolaita Dicha, 78th minute strike from Robel T/Micheal proved to be the difference for Ethiopia Bunna.
The match up between two sides playing a very contrasting football was an interesting battle for the spectators, Ethiopia Bunna were very dominant with the ball while Wolaita Dicha were happy to spend most of their time chasing the ball and at times they tend to create high turnover to hurt Ethiopia Bunna with their counter attacks.
That was the story for much of the first half but Ethiopia Bunna seem to find attacking rhythm, especially from their left side where Willian Solomon seem to be thriving.
In the 78th minute, Robel T/Micheal was once again the hero for Ethiopia Bunna as he converted from close range after they won possession high up the pitch.
Ethiopia Bunna aided by their back to back wins are now with 27 points moved to the 6th spot while Wolaita Dicha becomes 3rd on the log level on points with Sidama Bunna.
