The second half of the season of the Ethiopian Higher League has started with games taking place on Sunday and Monday.
Group A
Ethiopia Nigid Bank managed to beat Akaki Kaliti 2-0 to sit top of the group. Nigid Bank started strong and took the lead in the 10th minute. It was Abel Mamush who opened the scoring. The second goal was scored in the 79th minute to seal the victory after a dominant display. Bench Maji Bunna hammered Gamo Chencha 3-0 and now sits in second place, a point adrift of the top spot.
Elsewhere, Addis Ketema Kifle Ketema lost 0-1 to Sendafa Beke while Wollo Kombolcha beat Durame Ketema 2-1. The game between Sebetam Ketema and Woldia Ketema ended 1-1 while Jimma Aba Bunna and Battu Ketema drew 0-0. The game between Halaba Ketema and Butajira Ketema was postponed.
Group B
In this group, there are 4 teams tied on 25 points at the top of the table. Two sides managed to grab a win this match day while the other two only got a point. Addis Ababa Ketema drew 0-0 with Kefa Bunna. Semien Shewa Debrebirhan beat Kirkos Kifle Ketema 2-0 with goals from Biyadglegn Elias and Wondwossen Shiferaw. Yirgachefe Bunna recorded a 2-1 win against Nekemte Ketema in what was an exciting battle. Seyoum Desta and Tekalgn Mesfin got the winning goals. Shashemene Ketema drew 1-1 with Gulele Kifle Ketema to sit in 4th place.
In the other games, Jinka Ketema beat Injibara Ketema 2-1, Nib got a 1-0 win against Kembata Shinshicho, while Ambo Ketema lost 1-2 to Boditi Ketema.
Group C
Leaders Hambericho Durame dropped points as they can only muster a 0-0 draw against Damot Ketema. Second-placed side Gelan Ketema, on the other hand, got a 2-0 win against Robe Ketema. Besufekad Negash got the first goal of the game in the 30th minute. Robe tried to get back into the game during the second half but their attempt was futile as Gelan doubled their advantage through Ibrahim Badu to secure the win.
In the other games, Damot Ketema vs Hambericho Durame and Burayu Ketema vs Kolfe Keraniyo ended 0-0. Yeka Kifle Ketema lost 0-1 to Silte Wurabe and Jima Aba Jifar lost to Sodo Ketema by the same scoreline.
