Match Day 18 of the BetKing Ethiopian Premier League continued on Saturday at Adama Science and Technology University Stadium with games between Ethiopia Bunna vs Wolkite Ketema and the Derby between Bahir Dar Ketema and Fasil Kenema.
The early game saw Ethiopia Bunna return to winning ways after 5 consecutive draws in the league while Wolkite Ketema who were without their head coach fail to recover from last match day’s hammering at the hands of Bahir Dar.
Ethiopia Bunna had to wait until the 87th minute to break the deadlock and grab what would be the winner. Substitute Brook Beyene got the goal to help his side get all three points.
The biggest game of the day entertained a fierce contest between Bahir Dar Ketema and Fasil Kenema. And it was Bahir Dar who came out 2-1 winners to keep the pressure on league leaders St. George.
Tafesse Solomon gave Fasil Kenema the lead in the first half following an error in Bahir Dar’s back line.
In the second half Bahir Dar came out stronger and equalized in the 48th minute. A penalty was awarded for Bahir Dar after Yehun Endeshaw took down Fuad Fereja from behind inside the box. Yared Bayeh takes the penalty and scores against his former team but didn’t celebrate.
The winner came in the 80th minute and it was Alelelgn Azene whose sumptuous strike from outside the penalty box made everyone amazed.
Fasil Kenema were forced to finish the game with 9 men after Alembirhan Yigzaw (straight red) and Amsalu Tilahun (second yellow) were both sent off.
Following the win Bahir Dar Ketema take their points to 36 only 3 points behind first place while Fasil Kenema sit 8th with 24 points.
