Bahir Dar Ketema’s Continental dream ended as Tunisian side Club Africain progressed to the next phase with a 3-2 aggregate victory.
Bahir Dar Ketema coming into the return leg at Stade Olympique Hammadi Agrebi in Radès having a two goal lead courtesy of two goals from Habtamu Tadesse.
But the Tunisian outfit Club Africain who needed a much improved 90 minutes than the one they had in Addis Ababa were attacking on all cylinders from the get go.
Backed by their special support from their fans Club Africain had a wonderful start to the match as Bassem Srarfi pulled one back in the 14th minute. The early goal galvanized the Tunisian outfit as their sustained pressure yielded their second of the day in the 30th minute through Nigerian forward Kingsley Eduwo.
Club Africain wrapped their empathic first half with a third goal in the 43rd minute to change the complexion of the match in favour of Club Africain as Tunisian Hamdi Labidi scored the all important goal.
The second half of less spectacle saw no alteration in the score line making Club Africain who are under turmoil off the pitch progress into the next round in favor of debutant Bahir Dar Keteama.
Despite their 3-2 aggregate loss in the second round of qualifiers, this would go down into Bahir Dar Ketema’s history book as a proud moment to be cherished.
