The third day action of game week 24 saw the action packed Rodwa Derby ending one all while Ethiopia Bunna came from a goal down to return themselves to wining ways after three matches.
In the early kickoff goals in each half cancel each other as Hawassa Ketema and Sidama Bunna played out a one all derby.
The Rodwa Derby, played at the Hawassa University Stadium saw a huge turnout from the two sets of supporters creating a fascinating vibe. In what was a well contested derby it was Hawassa Ketema who took the lead in the 17th minute.
The league’s top scorer Ali Sulieman turned provided playing Tafesse Solomon a delicious pass before he converted to the opening goal with ease.
After the restart Hawassa returned with out their midfield metronome Tafesse Solomon as he was not able to continue the second half through injury inturn creating a favourable environment for Sidama to have a sustained attack in the second half due to Hawassa’s lack of control in midfield vial Tafesses’s loss.
Sidama’s sustained attack eventually lead to an equalizing goal in the 74th minute from a corner kick by their skipper Desta Demu courtsey to goalkeeping hauler from Charles Lukwago.
The draw meant Hawassa Ketema and Sidama Bunna increasing their point to 33 & 31 points residing 8th and 11th.
In the match played under the floodlights a spirited second half performance saw Ethiopia Bunna crusing to victory over Wolaita Dicha.
The first half was evenly contested between the two sides but Wolaita Dicha seem to be more threatening moving forward and eventually went ahead in the 37th minute, Buzayehu Seifu scored through Bereket Amare’s legs after a serging run from him and were almost 2-0 ahead in the 41st minute but this time Biniyam Fikre couldn’t cap of a timed ball played for him behind Bunna’s defense.
Five minutes after the restart their was no stopping as Mesfin Tafese’s bullet of a header found the back of Binyam’s net to restore parity between the two sides.
The equalizer saw a shift in momentum as Ethiopia were attacking with all cylinders forcing a panicking for Wolaita Dicha.It was lead to Wolaita Dicha’s young center back sent off for second yellow card with the piling pressure.
With the game continuing to be a one sided affair Ethiopia Bunna finally find the wining goal in the 84th minute, Second half substitute MohmaerNur Nasser who was on few minutes prior decided the match with his second goal of the campaign.
The win saw Ethiopia Bunna increasing their point tally into 38 also climbing into 5th place while losers Wolaita Dicha are on 28 points in the bottom half of the log.
