The third day action of game week 25 saw Mechal digging dip for all three points while Kidus Giorgis’s shambles continue.
In the early kickoff Kidus Giorgis’s poor run of form continues as they yet again dropped points, this time they played out a one all draw.
Kidus Giorgis were first on to the score sheet as the midfielder Bereket Wolde’s 18th minute strike put them in the driving seat but former Kidus Giorgis player Omod Okori who came on late in the second half scored a 71st minute equalizing goal for Hadiys Hossana.
The draw left Kidus Giorgis now on 40 points move into 4th place but have a 13 points diffrence from 1st placed Nigd Bank which might rule them of the title while Hadiya have 35 points.
In the late kickoff filled with drama Mechal were forced to dig deep to earn all the three points against a brave Hawassa Ketema.
In what was a five goals thriller it was Hawassa Ketema who took the lead through the league’s top scorer Eritirean import Ali Sulieman in the 14th minute but in the 36th minute Kenean Markneh who earned a huge plaudits from his head coach prior to kickoff levelled matters.
After the restart it was Hawassa playing by their home town backing went ahead in the 52nd minute through Ali Sulieman’s succesful spot kick but yet again Mecha came to restore parity as Kenean Markneh scored yet again six minutes latter.
Mechal who needed all the three points to maintain thier pressure on league leaders Nigd Bank finally find the match wining goal in the 80th minute via Abdu Mutalbu cementing their status.
Mechal have now 50 points three points ahy of league leaders while Hawassa are still on 33 points.
