Wolaitta Dicha knocked out of the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round after suffering a 3-1 defeat to Libyan giants Al Ittihad Tripoli.
The tie was balanced after a goalless first leg last week in Addis Ababa.
In today’s return match at the Tripoli International Stadium, hosts struck first in the 23rd minute through Tete to take the lead. Just before halftime Tewodros Tafese equalized for Wolaitta Dicha and kept the visitors hopes alive going into the break.
Al Ittihad increased the pressure in the second half and regained their advantage in the 72nd minute through Nofel Al Zarhouni from the spot. Substitute Al Bayzi then sealed the win with a late strike in the 90th minute.
With a 3-1 aggregate victory Al Ittihad Tripoli move on to the next round while Wolaitta Dicha exit the competition.
