Adama Ketema have officially appointed Mihret Guta as the club’s new General Manager as part of early structural and organizational overhauls to rebuild ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Mihret steps into the role with an extensive background in football administration. She previously served as the Team Manager for the Ethiopian Women’s U-20 National Team and worked as a Senior Competitions Expert at the Ethiopian Football Federation. Most recently she held various operational roles at Sheger City Football Club.
With this appointment, Mihret becomes the second woman to serve as a top-flight club General Manager in the Ethiopian Premier League following in the footsteps of Kenean Belete, who continues her successful leadership tenure at Sidama Bunna.
Mihret’s executive appointment reflects a broader trend of women taking key leadership roles in top-flight football across East Africa. In Tanzania, Barbara Gonzalez broke major barriers as CEO of Simba SC, leading the club through high profile continental campaigns. In Uganda, Anisha Muhoozi made history as CEO of KCCA FC, Florence Nakiwala Kiyingi served as Chairperson at Express FC, and former national team defender Jean Sseninde has spearheaded regional sports governance as CECAFA’s Interim Executive Director and Women’s Football Development Manager. Meanwhile, in Kenya, female leadership continues to thrive with figures such as Ruth Ommala at Mara Sugar FC, Lynda Ambiyo at Zoo Kericho FC, and Rose Chemutai leading APS Bomet.
