Ethiopian international Asechalew Tamene officially joined the reigning premier League champions Kidus Giorgis for undisclosed fee. The central defender was the center of attention after refusing to extend his contract with Dedebit. Kidus Giorgis SA today confirmed to Soccer Ethiopia that they land a deal to sign the exciting center back.
Asechalew, born in Dilla, was instrumental in Dedebit’s squad that finished runner ups. He impressed during his last season with the Blue Army. After Dedebit appointed Yohannes Sahle, Asechalew showed his fine form. Under the guidance of Yohannis he managed to start most games. His brilliant display eventually earned him a call up to the national team. He played 4 competitive games for the Walias thus far. It was widely rumored that the defender will end up at Giorgis. Ultimately, his destination was what most spectators expected. The defender will pen a two years contract.
On the other news the Horsemen extended the contracts of team captain Degu Debebe, right back Alemayehu Muleta, midfield trio Minyahel Teshome, Behailu Assefa and Tesfaye Alebachew. The players sined the contract extension today. Center back Salahdin Bargicho and midfielder Natnael Zeleke agreed a contract extension with Giorgis. However, since both players are in Portugal for a tryout at Portuguese 2nd division club C.D. Feirense the players will continue with the Giorgis if they failed to struck a deal with C.D. Feirense after the trial elapsed.
The signing of Asechalew Tamene meant Kidus Giorgis concluded their summer market. Although, signing winger Asechalew Girma is still on the card. The club stated they are only expecting to sign two foreign strikers that will help the club to perform well on next season’s CAF Champions League.
