Diredawa Ketema shocked Adama Ketema 2-0, having been a man down for virtually 47 minutes. Sidama Bunna and Electric shared spoils in a very unentertaining game played out in Yirgalem.
Diredawa Ketema condemned Adama Ketema for their first loss of the season. Adama were in search of a vital win as they hoped to reclaim the lead from Kidus Giorgis. However, Mesert Manni’s side had a surprise for Adama. The 2014/15 Ethiopian National League top goal scorer Belay Abayneh scored in each half to hand the Easterners a surprise win over Adama. Abayneh gave Diredawa the lead 5 minutes from the break. Diredawa were reduced to 10 men at the stroke of the first half when Surafel Daneil received his marching order. Diredawa extended their lead shortly after the restart through Abayneh’s strike.
It is a relief for Manni, the only woman coach in league, as she claimed victory in front of a home crowd.
The game between Sidama Bunna and Electric ended in a stalemate. The game saw too many long passes that lacked accuracy. Both sides continued on their unbeaten form after the restart of the league last Monday.
Diredawa Ketema now sits fifth with 13 points, nine points adrift from leaders Kidus Giorgis. Kidus Giorgis tops the log table with 22 points, two points clear off second placed Adama Ketema. Sidama Bunna and Electric are fourth and eighth respectively. Hadiya Hossana are rock bottom after week 9 games.
