Ethiopian international Walid Atta has joined Swedish outfit Östersunds FK. The center back has put pen to paper a one year deal after successfully completing his medical examination. Atta left Turkish side Genclebirligi SK after failing out of favor. He only made 4 appearances for the Ankara side over his 6 month stay.
The experienced defender left ‘The Winds of Ankara’ when his contract terminated amicably back in January. Atta has now completed his switch to newly promoted side Östersunds.
Several Swedish clubs were chasing to get Atta’s signature. However, Atta chose Östersunds. Elfsborg, Brondby IF and IFK Gotenborg were among the clubs that has sought the service of the Ethiopian.
The 2009 Sewedish Allsvenskan League champion Atta expressed his delight upon joining his new club on Instagram. Östersunds FK managed to gain promotion to Allsvenskan last season after finishing runner-ups in Superettan League.
