Mesay Achiso and Yosef Dengito seal a brilliant win for the hosts against second placed Adama Ketema in Boditi.
Woliatta Dicha looked to be coasting to an important victory since the kick off whilst Adama Ketema lost their second successive away game and blew their chance to go top of the league table.
Mesay opened the scoring in the 24th minute when his lovely strike from 20 meters out found the back of the net. Adama Ketema were without a single attempt on goal till the half hour mark when Beninese striker Abikyou Shakiru saw his goal bound header sailing wide. Adama came out stronger in the second half in search of an equalizer.
Dicha’s goal scorer Mesay was sent off in a second booking shortly after the second half kicked off. However, Adama’s numerical advantage lasted for 10 minutes as the match referee showed Mikael George the marching order for a dangerous foul on Yosef.
Yosef sealed the win five minutes from time as he sends a superb low drive shot that go past Adama custodian Jacob Penza from a good passage of play.
The defeat left Adama second and dealt in a huge blow for the team who are chasing the league title for the first time. Wolaitta Dicha occupies sixth with 16 points.
Controversy likewise surrounded the game over the red card decision and EFF’s appointment of Federal Arbiter Teferi. Wolaitta Dicha players filed a complaint on Mesay’s second yellow while Adama Ketema questioned the decision of the football governing body of Ethiopia on appointing Arbiter Teferi over International Arbiter Amanuel HaileSelassie, who happened to be outside of Ethiopia to officiate a continental game this weekend.
