Day three action of game week 18 saw Fasil Ketema earn a hard fought three points while Sidama Bunna register a crucial victory in the title race against Hawassa Ketema.
The 4 pm kickoff between Fasil Kenema and Jimma Aba Jiffare was important for both sides in their respective aspirations at the top & bottom of the log.
Fasil Kenema who recently sacked their head coach Seyoum Kebede were lead by his former assistant and now interim head coach Hailu Negashe for the very first time.
But Jimma Aba Jiffare opened the scoring in the 40th minute through Mohammed Nur Nasser but Fasil equalized soon after the restart, Yihun Endeshaw who was back in the starting XI after a lengthy absence, strike home from range to level matters.
Fasil seem to dominate the early exchanges of the second half but couldn’t show their dominance thanks to Jimma’s goalie Alazar Marcos.
There were periods in the second half were Jimma seemed to push for the winner but Fasil Ketema eventually got away with all the three points.
Nigerian import Okiki Afolabi, under a lot of criticism for lack of goals, was on target in the 90th minute to give his side the much needed three point.
Fasil now with 33 points are currently 2nd in the log while Jimma Aba Jiffare are 2nd to last with 12 points.
In the late kickoff, Sidama Bunna stuns Hawassa Ketema in the Rodwa derby.
The first half was all about Sidama Bunna as they went on to open the scoring through Mulalem Mesfin, But Hawassa surprisingly equalized in the 38 minute via Mesfin Taffese.
Hawassa Ketema were by far better in the second half but Sidama Bunna’s counter attacking display was too good to handle for them, Dawit Tefera and Yigezu Bogale added a couple of goals to seal the deal for Sidama Bunna.
With this win in hand, Sidama are still 3rd with 30 points reducing the deficit with Hawassa now 4th to a single point.
