The second day action of game week 9 saw Kidus Giorgis suffering another setback while Hawassa’s misery continues.
In the early kickoff, Hawassa Ketema’s misery continues as they once again suffered their fifth loss in the spin this time at the hands of Mechal piling the pressure on Zeray Mulu.
Minyelu Wondimu and Kenean Markneh were on target for Mechal whose head coach Gebrekirstos Birara labelled their performance as purpose full after their ultra defensive approach in the later stages of the second half while Ali Sulieman was on target for Hawassa.
The win leaves Mechal 2nd level on 23 points with league leaders Ethiopia Niged Bank who are yet to play in this game week while Hawassa on a poor run of form are still 12th with 9 points.
In the late kickoff, Kidus Giorgis suffered yet another setback in their quest for the summit as they were held to a goalless draw against Hadiya Hossana.
The draw means Kidus Giorgis are still 5 points away from league leaders Ethiopia Medhin but this margin could open up into 8 points if Nigd Bank wins tomorrow while Hadiya Hossana who are on 7th game unbeaten streak are 10th with 12 points after their dreadful opening to the campaign.
