The opening day action of game week 17 saw Bahir Dar Ketema and Hawassa earning crucial wins as Chernet Gugsa and Ali Sulieman ran the show for their respective teams.
In what was the opening fixture of game week 17 Ali Sulieman’s brace guided Hawassa back to winning ways sinking their neighbor Shashemene Ketema.
Ali Sulieman who was on five goals this season was on the score sheet twice in today’s game meanwhile Israel Eshetu made a happy return to his boyhood club with a goal in added minutes, whereas Sintayehu Mengistu scored the conciliation goal for Shashemene Ketema.
The win saw Hawassa Ketema moving into 11th place with 22 points while Shashemene remained 14th with 12 points.
The late kickoff saw Bahir Dar Ketema defeating Mechal courtsey to Cherenet Gugsa’s 83rd minuted headed goal.
Bahir Dar Ketema who are trying to bring their mojo back made it two wins from the last three games increasing their point tally into 26 points and to 6th place while title hopefuls Mechal suffer back to back losses but remain 2nd with 33 points.
