South Ethiopia based club ArbaMinch Kenema agreed to sign free agent left back Abebaw Butako. The former Kidus Giorgis player was without a club after Sudanese giants Al Hilal Omdurman released him from his contarct. Prior to joining ArbaMinch Abebaw’s name repeatedly mentioned in the transfer window on a move to Dashen Bira, Kidus Giorgis, Adama Kenema and Sidama Bunna.
ArbaMinch is the birth place of Abebaw. The free kick specialist agreed to join his hometown club in a deal worth 1.8 million Birr. As it stands a record fee paid to a player in Ethiopian players transfer window history. Abebaw is going to earn 75,000 Birr monthly salary. The salary will also make him the highest paid player in Ethiopian Premier League.
Abebaw previously played for the now fragile ArbaMinch Textile and Kidus Giorgis. He made his Giorgis debut under Serbian coach Milutin Serdojevic “Micho” in the CAF Champions League preliminary round game versus Egyptian ENPPI. Abebaw won the Ethiopian Premier League seven times. He was also part of the Ethiopian national team that participated in the AfCON after 31 years absence.
ArbaMinch on the other side agreed to sing 2 players from the national league.
