In the Ethiopian National League crucial semifinal game Hossana Kenema thrashed Halaba Kenema 3 nil to achieve promotion to the premier league. The game started after a minute of silence was observed for the 4 deceased Halaba fans who passed away on their way to Dire Dawa near Asebe Teferi because of a car collusion. 25 others were injured in the incident. 8 of them in a critical condition.
The game ended 3 nil in favor of Hossana. Hossana won the game comfortably. Dula Mulatu bagged the first goal in the stroke of the first half. Meanwhile, Tewodros Mengesha and Tezera Abute scored in the second half to make the score line 3 nil. It is Tezera’s 4th goal of the campaign while Tewodros and the inform Dula has got 3 and 2 goals in their bag respectively.
After the win Hossana Kenema’s coach Girma Tadesse spoke with Soccer Ethiopia. Girma claimed he knew the tactics implmented by Halaba. “We knew Halaba before. They were in our zone and we were aware of their style of play. We were so positive that we would beat me. We controlled the game so we won.”
Tewodros Mengesha, who scored the 2nd goal, named man of the match. The award was given by the Sport Commission and Youth Bureau. Halaba Kenema will face Dire Dawa Kenema in the final on the coming Sunday. Halaba became the 43rd team to take part in the top flight league. They are also the first Hadiya team to achieve promotion.
