The opening day fixture of Game week 21 witnessed Meklakeya inflicting a humiliating 4-0 defeat on Ethiopia Bunna while Jimma Aba Jiffar also upset star-studded Bahirdar Ketema.
The early kickoff saw a galvanized Jimma Aba Jiffar side defeat Bahirdar Ketema 2-0 to revive their hopes of survival.
Yusuf Ali was in charge of Jimma for the first time this season as the club is on the way to parting ways with Ashenafi Bekele.
Aschenaki Tsegaye and Surafel Awol were on target for Jimma while Mesud Mohammed assisted both from set piece situations. Once again Jimma’s goalie Alazar Markos produced a heroic performance in between the sticks, pulling off some stunning saves to protect his side’s lead.
Jimma Aba Jiffare now with 16 points are still 15th in the log but they cut the deficit to 14th and placed Addis Ababa to just 4 points.
In the late kickoff, a much improved Mekelakeya humiliated the unidimensional Ethiopia Bunna.
Mekelakeya’s head coach Yohannes Sahle was absent due to illness as Yordanos Abay stepped up to fill his boots.

game from the get go making life difficult for Ethiopia Bunna’s players.
Three of the goals in the first half resulted from a high turnover, Teshome Belachew, Biniyam Belay and Addisu Atula were all on target for Mekelakeya in the first half while Aminu Nessru converted from the spot to complete the 4-0 rout.
Following the result, Mekelakeya are still 12th with 24 points while Ethiopia Bunna still remains 7th with 28 points.
