The Ethiopian Higher League week 12 fixtures took place across three towns on Friday and Saturday.
Group A
Ethiopia Nigd Bank managed to get a 2-1 win against Gamo Chencha at Bahir Dar. Nigd Bank were able to create more chances in the first half while the possession between the two sides was even. Brook Bitsuhamlak gave Nigid Bank the lead in the 11th minute and Abel Mamush doubled the advantage in the second half. Gamo Chencha’s captain Belete Bekele’s header narrowed the deficit but it was another important win for the league leaders at the end.
Second placed side Woldia Ketema also got a 2-1 win in their game against Batu Ketema. It was Batu that took the lead early on but second half goals from Amanuel Barba and Brook Getachew secured the win for Woldia.
Bench Maji Bunna who are in third place drew 1-1 with Addis Ketema Kifle Ketema. The game between Sendafa Beke and Halaba Ketema drew 0-0, Akaki Kaliti lost 0-2 to Wollo Kombolcha, Butajira Ketema beat Sebeta Ketema 2-0 and Durame Ketema got a 1-0 win against Jimma Aba Bunna.
Group B
In Group B none of the top four sides managed to get a win this match day. The game of the week between Addis Ababa Ketema and Nekemte Ketema ended in a 0-0 draw. Shashemene Ketema lost 1-0 to Kefa Bunna and are in second place level on points with Addis Ababa Ketema but behind on goal difference.
In the other games of the group Semien Shewa Debre Birhan and Gulele Kifle Ketema drew 0-0 while Kefa Bunna, Injibara Ketema, Ambo Ketema and Yirga Chefe Bunna all got 1-0 wins in their ties. The game between Kirkos Kifle Ketema and Jinka Ketema was the only game that had more than a single goal in it in this group as Jinka grabbed a 2-1 win.
Group C
Leaders Hambericho Durame faced Silte Wurabe in a much anticipated encounter. The game ended in a 1-1 stalemate. It was Silte Wurabe that took the lead early on in the second minute through Tiumelisan Hailemicheal. Endeshaw Chamiso scored in the added minutes of the first half to level the score. There weren’t many opportunities to talk about in the second half.
The last game on Friday from this group was the tie between Yeka Kifle Ketema and Gelan Ketema. The first half was an exhilarating watch but ended without any goals. In the second half Gelan got the lead and eventual winner in the 76th minute.
In the other games of the group Damot Ketema won 1-0 against Negele Arsi, Robe Ketema drew 1-1 Dessie Ketema, Federal Police and Sodo Ketema ended their game goalless while Burayu Ketema lost 0-1 to Jimma Aba Jifar.
