Game week 14 started today as the first day action saw resurgent Arbaminch Ketema stun Dire Dawa Ketema while Ethiopia Medhin reclaim top spot.
In the early kickoff Ethiopia Medhin wasted a chance to go three points clear at the summit of the table as they twice gave away their lead to share points with Adama Ketema.
Habib Kemal opened the scoring for Gebremedhin Haile’s men in the 11th minute but Bona Ali levelled matters for Adama in the 36th minute. Ethiopia Medhin once again took the lead after Habib Kemal converted from the spot after he was brought down by Million Solomon, who was sent off for a second yellow card.
But Adama with one man light put a spirited performance and eventually found the equalizing goal in 82nd minute through second half substitute Adnan Reshad after a defensive blunder from Medhin players.
Following the draw Ethiopia Medhin reclaim top spot with 27 points while Adama Ketema remained 12th with 15 points.
In the late kickoff Arbaminch Ketema came from behind to earn a sweet victory over Dire Dawa Ketema.
Dire playing on home soil backed by their huge fan turnout took the lead early as their skipper Gadissa Mebrate curled a powerful free kick just outside the box. But Gadissa’s night was cut short as he was forced to be subbed off following a knee injury to be replaced by the Ghanian Mohammed Abduletif.
Dire Dawa were unable to sustain their pressure and eventually invited Arbaminch Ketema in to the match, on the second half “The Crocodiles” backed by their positive changes scored three goals in space of 12 minutes to revert the score.
Merihun Meskele opened the scoring spree in the 73rd minute minutes after being introduced while Temesgen Derese and Ashenafi Fida added the other two goals in the 79th & 85th minute to give their side a sweet victory.
The win lifted Arbaminch Ketema into 11th spot with 16 points while Dire remain 8th with 18 points.
