The first day actions of game week 8 saw Kidus Giorgis outclassing Hawassa Ketema while Mechal edge Wolkite Ketema to go top of the log.
In the early kickoff, a first half hattrick from Abel Yalew handed Kidus Giorgis a moral lifting three points against Hawassa Ketema.
The league’s top scorer Abel Yalew who was on five goals coming to this game added three more today to increase his tally to eight goals, the goals came in the 6th, 34th, and 43rd minute to sink Hawassa Ketema who are now on three games losing streak conceding eight goals in the process.
The win meant Kidus Giorgis who have a game in hand are now 2nd in the log with 16 points meanwhile Hawassa Ketema still on 9 points are 8th in the log.
In the late kickoff, Mechal halted Wolkite Ketema’s mini resurgence courtesy of late strikes from Kenean Markneh and Chijoki Namdi to go top of the log.
Going into the game Mechal and Wolkite Ketema were uplifted by their successive league wins and were expected to have a very lively contest but the on field display was far from expectations leaving many in disappointment.
But deep into the second half, Mechal did finally manage to unlock Wolkite’s defense, first up it was Kenean Markneh netting his second goal of the campaign in the 80th minute while summer import Chijoki Namdi netted his very first goal in the added minutes to maintain his sides’s wining streak.
The draw left Wolkite in 11th with 8 points while Mechal now with their fourth win in a row claimed the top spot with 19 points.
