Ethiopian forward Kenean Markneh has officially etched his name into the history books, finishing the season as the top goalscorer in the Omani Professional League.
The season reached a thrilling conclusion on May 23, when Kenean delivered a masterclass in Al-Shabab’s 3–2 away victory against Al-Nahda. The Ethiopian star netted a sensational hat-trick to secure both the match win and the Golden Boot title.
A Prolific Campaign
Kenean concluded the season with an incredible record of 21 goals in 21 appearances. He outperformed Abdul Salam Al-Shukali and Nasir Al-Rawahi, who finished tied for second with 18 goals apiece.
In the final league standings, Al-Seeb were crowned champions with 67 points, while Kenean’s Al-Shabab secured a commendable second-place finish with 54 points.
Following his standout season which also saw him play a vital role in his club’s Asian Challenge League campaign Kenean spoke with Soccer Ethiopia about his journey.

Adapts so quick
“Adaptation becomes simple when you have a clear purpose. The reason I didn’t struggle to settle in is that I arrived with a specific goal in mind. When you know why you are there, the challenges of a new environment become much easier to navigate.
The future?
“My ambition is to push beyond my current limits. Whether I stay here or move elsewhere, I want to remain a top scorer and compete for ‘Player of the Season’ honors. I plan to maintain this momentum and continue growing as a professional.”
