Halaba Ketema Make Major Moves with Four New Additions

Ethiopian Premier League newcomers Halaba Ketema have begun active moves to bolster their squad for the upcoming campaign, securing agreements to acquire four experienced players.

Leading the new additions is Ghanaian forward Hafiz Konkoni, who becomes the first to agree to terms with the newly promoted side. The Ghanaian striker is no stranger to top-flight Ethiopian football, having previously featured for Hawassa, Bunna and most recently Welwalo Adigrat University. Konkoni enjoyed a standout campaign with Wolwalo helping lead the club to their historic first-ever Ethiopian Cup title after scoring in the final.

Joining him is fellow Ghanaian and experienced center back Caleb Amankwah, who arrives following his departure from CBE SA. After building an impressive reputation in the Ghanaian Premier League with Hearts of Oak, Aduana Stars, and WAFA, Amankwah made the move to Ethiopia to join CBE, where he served as an integral pillar of their defense during their 2023/24 Ethiopian Premier League title-winning campaign.

In addition to the Ghanaian duo, Halaba Ketema have reinforced their domestic core with two key local signings. Center back Nesredin Hailu joins the squad bringing valuable top-flight experience, having previously suited up for Ethiopia Bunna and Mechal.

Meanwhile versatile defender Kirubel Wondimu also joins the newcomers following past spells at Legetafo Legedadi, CBE, and a solid two-year stint with Welwalo AU.
