Soccer Ethiopia has learned that Ethiopia Medhin have officially appointed a new head coach.
Following the expiration of Coach Gebremedhin Haile’s contract, who led the club over the past four years to their historic first-ever league title in 2025, the club’s board convened recently to hire a successor. After reviewing applications from three candidates, the board ultimately agreed to appoint Coach Degu Dubamo, according to sources obtained by Soccer Ethiopia.
Degu Dubamo played for six different clubs during his playing career before transitioning into coaching. He first gained recognition for developing numerous players in Metehara and near areas, later taking charge of the Metehara Sugar. He went on to serve as an assistant and interim head coach at Adama Ketema, and led Hambericho to promotion from the Higher League serving as their head coach in the top flight in 2013/24 season. Additionally Degu has served as an assistant coach for the Ethiopian national team and Wolaitta Dicha under Mesay Teferi as well as in Ethio Electric.
