Tafesse Tesafaye, who recently received his national team call up, bagged a brace in the second half to put himself at the top of the scoring chart likewise to put Adama on top. Tafesse celebrated both his goals with his trademark dance whilst the Hawassa faithful applauded him.
Dashen Beer got back to winning ways after 4 games as they defeat Electric. Sherif Dien’s second half goal was enough to hand the Gondar side the three points. Electric coach Birhanu Bayou was dismissed in the second half to wrap up an already bad day for the 2 time Ethiopian Premier League champions.
Center back Tewodros Bekele scored an own goal in the opening 5 minutes as Sidama Bunna overcame army side Mekelakeya in Yirgalem.
Dire Dawa Kenema saw off Ethiopia Nigd Bank 1-0 in a controversial game at Dire Dawa. Surafel Daniel made sure of Dire Dawa’s third consecutive victory before the interval. Nigd Bank had an equalizer in the second half through Nigerian center forward Philip Dauzi, but the lines man ruled against it. The game was halted for a few minutes as Nigd Bank coaching staff complained about the disallowed goal.
The high flying Adama Kenema remains top with 19 points. Hadiya Hossana stays bottom of the log table with 4 points. Tafesse Tesfaye now leads the top goal scoring chart with 6 goals.
