The 4pm kickoff played in a very slippery pitch as the heavy shower prior to onset made it difficult for both sides to implement their intended game plan.
Ethiopia Bunna were by far the superior side in the first half and created a couple of good scoring chances especially from set pieces. In the 20th minute Hawassa’s Ghanian import goalie Mohammed Muntari was forced to subbed off as Alazar Markos came in place of him.
Once again Ethiopia Bunna opened the second half on a positive but on the 59th minute Ethiopia Bunna’s skipper Amanuel Yohannes was sent of for a second yellow card, after the red card Ethiopia Bunna played with bravery while Hawassa Ketema opted to play long balls in behind Bunna’s backline but both sides failed to create any meaningful chances settling for a draw.
The draw meant Ethiopia Bunna have now drawn in each of their last five matches are now 6th in the log with 22 points while Hawassa Ketema on 25 points remain 4th.
The late kickoff between Sidama Bunna and Hadiya Hossana was forced to be called off as the pitch was heavily water clogged.
Second day action of game week 17 will continue tomorrow as Mechal will take on Adama Ketema in the 4pm kickoff while league leaders Kidus Giorgis will take on strugglers Ethio Electric in the late kickoff.
