The last day’s action of game week 16 saw Wolaita Dicha and Hawassa Ketema earning a vital three points to maintain their pressure on chasing down league leaders Kidus Giorgis.
In the early kickoff, Kalkidan Zelalem’s only strike in the 66th minute was enough to hand Wolaita Dicha a much needed win against Dire Dawa Ketema.
Dire Dawa side lead by their new trainer Samson Ayele didn’t change much as only the left back Amare Bekele only made his debut appearance in their slender loss.
They were more assertive in the second half visiting Dicha’s box more frequently but eventually resilient Dicha grabbed all three points through Kalkidan Zelalem after a nicely worked wide set piece.
Wolaita Dicha are now on with 31 points sitting second while Dire continued in their downward trajectory sitting 13th five points away from the drop zone.
In the late kickoff, Hawassa Ketema emerge as a comfortable 2-0 winner against relegation threatened Jimma Aba Jiffare.
Goals in each half from Biruk Beyene and Tebarek Hafamo proved to be the difference, with the win in hand Hawassa are still third four points away from leaders Kidus Giorgis while Jimma recent resurgence at the end of the first half of the season seems to vanish with them sitting 15th with eleven points.
