Game week 20 began in style as leaders Kidus Giorgis got the better of title hopeful Sidama Bunna while Jimma Aba Jiffar and Ethiopia Bunna played out a one all draw.
The early kick off saw Ethiopia Bunna and Jimma Aba Bunna sharing points, Jimma were more assertive in their play and were relatively superior on both halves.
But Ethiopia Bunna opened the scoring in the 46th minute through Endale Debalke who was a target of fans’ protest after his lack of goals in his previous game times, But Jimma equalized minutes later as Eyob Alemayehu was on the score sheet.
Jimma Aba Jiffare’s performances may be improving, but they are still winless in nine outings and still searching for a glimmer of hope in their quest for survival.
They still rank 15th in the log with 12 points while Ethiopia Bunna are 6th with 28 points.
In the highly anticipated late kickoff, Gatoch Panom’s goal proved to be the difference as Kidus Giorgis leapfrog Sidama Bunna as they remained in the driving seat for the league crown.
Kidus Giorgis were pushed into their own half for much of the minutes but their resilience in defense guided them to victory, Once again set pieces were the difference as Gatoch Panom netted his first goal for Kidus Giorgis after a lapse of concentration from Sidama players in the second phase of a set-piece.
Kidus Giorgis remained top with 44 points while Sidama are 3rd 11 points off leaders.
