The third day action of game week 16 saw league leaders Kidus Giorgis coming from behind to beat second placed Ethiopia Medhin.
In the 4pm kickoff Dire Dawa Ketema sink Sidama Bunna 2-0 to claim all three points after their dreadful four games losing streak.
Goals in the opening and closing minutes of the game from Yared Tadesse and Abel Asebe send the home crowd in to jubilant vibe after a chaotic few weeks were Dire’s head coach Yordanose Abay’s job security was in doubt.
Dire Dawa moved into 10th place with 21 points while Sidama Bunna are 12th with 19 points.
In the late kickoff between league leaders Kidus Giorgis and second placed Ethiopia Medhin, Kidus Giorgis came from behind to earn a valuable three points.
In what was a very cagey game Ethiopia Medhin took the lead in the 53rd minute as Simon Peter Oketch scored his second goal of the campaign, but once the game restarted the momentum totally shifted in favour of Kidus Giorgis and went on to score two goals in the space of nine minutes.
Kidus Giorgis’s skipper Frimpong Mensu slotted home in the 63rd minute from near post after a pinpoint corner kick delivery from Biniyam Belay, and in the 72nd minute Togolese import Ismael Oro-Agoro scoring spree continued netting his 16th goal of the campaign with a stunning strike from range to wrap the business for Kidus Giorgis.
The win for Kidus Giorgis meant they now have 35 points at the summit creating a five point lead over second placed Ethiopia Medhin on 30 points.
