The 16th league crown is edging closer to the horsemen’s cabinet as they came from behind to earn a point against second place Bahir Dar in the what was supposed to be a title decider clash.
In what was a rearranged fixture from game week 26 Kidus Giorgis made two changes from their starting lineup that beat Legetafo as those changes saw Charles Lukwago and Frimpong Mensu coming in place of Bahiru Negash and Amanuel Terfu. Meanwhile Bahir Dar Ketema made a single change from the side that edge past Mechal with Fuad Fereja making way for Charles Ribanu.
Kidus Giorgis who had a five point lead at the top prior to kickoff got off to a flying start as Biniyam Belay’s sublime cross was beautifully meet by Chernet Gugssa giving them the early lead in the 13th minute.
After going one goal down Bahir Dar found a way back after asserting themselves more into the game, the man who is in red hot form Alelegn Azene strike from the outside of the box restored parity.
Following the equalizing goal momentum was clearly in favour of Bahir Dar and eventually went onto the dressing room with a well deserved lead, Firaol Mengistu’s beautiful inswinging free kick found the back of the net.
After the restart Kidus Giorgis were out of their block quickly and look more threatening of the two sides, following a sustained pressure Kidus Giorgis found the equalizing goal in the 58th minute through Abel Yalew.
The two sides had far and few scoring chances in the remaining minutes with Bahir Dar opting to attack in full cylinders while Kidus Giorgia opted for a more controlled approach.
The draw left the summit of the log as it was with Kidus Giorgis having a five point lead going into the final three games of the campaign as it stand the league crown seem for Kidus Giorgis to lose than Bahir Dar to win.
