2025/26 Ethiopian Women’s Premier League champions CBE have continued bolstering their squad with the official signings of two Ethiopian U-17 women’s national team stars.
Highly skilled forward Mehret Ayele has joined the Bankers on a two-year deal. Developed at the Ethiopian Sports Academy, Mehret enjoyed a standout season with Bole Sub City and played a pivotal role in the Ethiopia U-17 team’s run to the final round of World Cup qualification, finishing as the campaign’s top scorer with 6 goals in 5 matches. She is expected to fill the void left by Messay Temesgen who reportedly departed for Yanga Princesses.
Lidiya Iyasu is the second major talent to join CBE, also penning a two year contract. Following an impressive stint with the Tirunesh Dibaba Training Center, Lidiya finished the season as the Ethiopian Women’s Higher League top scorer with 19 goals while delivering standout performances for both the U-17 and U-18 national teams.
Preparing for CECAFA Women’s Champions League Ahead of their upcoming CECAFA Zone Women’s Champions League campaign, CBE had already secured the signings of winger Yemisrach Lakew and goalkeeper Genet Ermias.
