The tenth round of the Ethiopian Higher League fixtures took place across three towns on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Group A
The game of the week saw leaders Bench Maji Bunna face Ethiopia Nigid Bank on Tuesday. The game ended in a 0-0 draw and didn’t result in a change in the standings. Both sides approached the game cautiously and didn’t manage to create adequate number of opportunities. Ethiopia Nigid Bank didn’t make any attempts on target. Bench Maji Bunna sit first with 22 points while Ethiopia Nigid Bank are a point behind in second place.
Woldia managed to beat Durame Ketema 2-1 and sit in third place with 21 points. The first half of the game was an exciting one. Durame took the lead in the 15th minute thanks to Kirubel Kassa. Woldia equalized seven minutes later through Binyam Teumelisan. Haile Getahun scored the winner for Woldia in the 80th minute after sustained dominance from the team.
In the rest of the ties Akaki Kaliti lost 1-2 to Jimma Aba Bunna, Gamo Chencha and Wollo Kombolcha drew 0-0, Addis Ababa Kifle Ketema beat Halaba Ketema 2-1 and Sendafa Beke Ketema lost 0-1 to Sebeta Ketema.
Group B
Shashemene Ketema and Nekemte Ketema drew 0-0 on Wednesday. Shashemene tried to reach the final third with short passes but Nekemte’s good defending output has prevented anything from happening. Neither side was able to register a shot on target.
Second placed Addis Ababa Ketema also got a goalless stalemate against Boditi Ketema. They sit on second place with 17 points.
Semien Shewa Debre Birhan, who are in third place with the same points as Addis Ababa Ketema, drew 2-2 against Jinka Ketema. Behailu Belete’s own goal gave Jinka Ketema the lead in the 7th minute. Nur Hassen then scored in the 25th minute with a header. Yetesha Gizaw got a goal for Debre Birhan in the 38th minute and Mesfin Kidane scored the equalizer in the 76th minute after a strong performance from the side.
In the other games of the group Injibara Ketema beat Ambo Ketema 3-1, Kambata Shinshicho drew 0-0 with Yirga Chefe Bunna, Kirkos and Nib drew 2-2, and Gulele Kifle Ketema drew 0-0 with Kafa Bunna.
Group C
Like the other group leaders Hambericho Durame were put to a halt this match day as they drew 0-0 with Negelle Arsi. However, they have a six point advantage at the top of the table.
Gelan Ketema managed to beat Silte Worabe in the much anticipated game of the week. It was a tightly contested affair in which Silte Worabe got the better of the possession in the first half while Gelan Ketema tried to play on the counter. Temesgen Adamu’s header in the 64th minute handed all three points for Gelan Ketema. Following the win Gelan Ketema are in second place with 17 points while Siltie Worabe are a point behind in third spot.
In the rest of the fixtures Robe Ketema drew 0-0 with Sodo Ketema, Omedla beat Burayou Ketema 1-0, Yeka lost 0-1 to Dessie Ketema, while Damot Ketema beat Kolfie Keranio 3-0.
