The curtains were closed today for the inaugural Sidama Gofere Cup that was in action for the past few days at the Hawassa Stadium as Sebeta Ketema lifted the historic Cup.
The closing ceremony was attended by Esayas Jira the EFF President, Samuel Mekonnen owner of Gofere Sports Apparel Manufacturer, and other distinguished guests including Sidama Football Federation officials.
The early kickoff witnessed a stalemate between Hadiya Hossana and Sidama Bunna.
In what was a very tragic incident Hadiya Hossana’s forward Habtamu Tadesse was taken to hospital after he collided with Sidama Bunna’s players in the 23rd minute.
Hadiya Hossana’s goalie Mesay Ayano was voted as Gofere’s man of the match, Sidama Bunna finished third while Hadiya Hossana also finished in
fourth.
Meanwhile in the final fixture of the tournament the champions Sebeta Ketema went out to lose 1-0 against Hawassa Ketema courtesy of a 49th minute strike from Biruk Elias.
Hawassa Ketema’s summer recruit Tsegasew Demamo was voted Gofere’s man of the match.
Hawassa Ketema climbed to second guided by their victory of the champions.
After the conclusion of the on field events, participants were awarded a special present from Sidama Football federation and Gofere sports Apparel manufacturing, and also individual accolades were awarded.
