Day two action of game week 27 saw Arbamich Ketema register their first back to back win of the campaign while 10 men Sidama Bunna hold on to their lead to beat Jimma Aba Jiffar.
In the early kickoff accompanied by a heavy shower, Wolaita Dicha and Mekelakeya played out a frustrating goalless draw.
The lunchtime kickoff saw clinical Arbamich Ketema stun Dire Dawa Ketema to clinch their first back to back win of the campaign to remain 7th with 37 points.
Dire enjoyed much of the ball in both halves but Arbamich were very lethal in the very few moments they went forward, Ahmed Hussien opened the scoring for the crocodiles while the Kenyan import added a couple of goals from the spot kick in each half to give Arbaminch a comfortable 3-0 victory.
Meanwhile, Dire Dawa now with back to back defeats are dragging themselves into trouble and could end the week in the drop zone if Addis Ababa wins tomorrow.
In the late kickoff Sidama Bunna edge past Jimma Aba Jiffare moving into the 3rd spot with 43 points.
Salhadin Seid broke the deadlock in the 13th minute after a free kick rocket, and Yigezu Bogale added another in the 78th minute to give Sidama who were a man short after debutant Mequanente Kassa was sent off deep in the second half.
Jimma Aba Jiffare players were all in from the get go but luck was not on their side, second half substitute Misganaw Melaku pulled one back for Jimma in the 81st minute.
As things stand with three games it would take a miracle for Jimma Aba Jiffare now on 23 points to pull one of the greatest escapes in Ethiopia’s football history.
