Fasil Kenema fail to progress in their CAF Confederations Cup tie as they lost 1-0 to Tunisian side Sefaxin.
After finishing second in the 2021/22 season of the Betking Ethiopian Premier League Fasil Kenema became Ethiopia’s representative in this competition. After drawing 0-0 at home with Sefaxin, The Emperors failed to better the result away from home and got knocked via a solitary goal.
Aschalew Tamene in place of Menaf Awol was the only change from the game in Bahir Dar. It was Sefaxin who dominated the first twenty minutes of the game while Fasil mostly stayed in their half and only had two opportunities to come forward in those minutes.
In the 39th-minute Mauritanian international Ismail Diakhité converted to give the home side the lead after a series of chances went begging for the Tunisians.
Fasil Kenema managed to get the better possession in the second half but was still unable to create enough chances to turn the game around. And Diakhité’s goal was enough to decide the tie.
