Here is a wrap up of all the action that took place across the three groups in as many towns.
Group A
Leaders Bench Maji Bunna dropped points against Durame Ketema in what was one of the best games of the match day. Wondu Firew gave Durame the lead in the 13th minute. Bench Maji Bunna took a while to get into stride but managed to get the equalizer in the 29th minute through Seid Setegn. In the second half Ephrem Tamiru made the score 2-1. However, Wondu Firew’s header in added time denied Bench Maji the win and the game ended in a 2-2 draw.
Ethiopia Nigid Bank managed to beat Halaba Ketema 1-0 to close the gap to leaders Bench Maji Bunna to only a single point. Abel Mamush got the winning goal in the 42nd minute after putting the goal on top of the keeper who was out of his line.
Woldia Ketema beat Butajira Ketema 1-0 and are in 3rd place with 18 points. In the other games Jimma Aba Bunna got a 1-0 win against Sendafa Beke, Wollow Kombolcha beat Addis Ketema 2-0, Woldia Ketema beat Butajira Ketema 1-0 while Battu Ketema lost 0-2 to Akaki Kaliti.
Group B
Group leaders Shashemene Ketema dropped points at Jimma against Ambo Ketema. Addisalem Desalegn gave Shashemene the lead in the 37th minute but Ambo managed to get a point out of the game thanks to a goal from Dereje Negash.
Semenshewa Debrebirhan beat Kembata Shinshicho 1-0 on Thursday while Addis Ababa Ketema got a 2-1 win against Yirga Chefe Bunna on Friday. After these results Addis Ababa Ketema sit second on 16 points after 9 games while Semenshewa Debrebirhan sit third level on points but one behind on goal difference.
In the other games Nib beat Gulele Kifle Ketema 1-0, Nekemte lost 0-1 to Kirkos Kifle Ketema, Boditi Ketema lost 1-2 to Injibara Ketema while Kefa Bunna beat Jinka Ketema 1-0.
Group C
In the game that took place in Hosana, Hambericho Durame got a 2-1 win against Dessie Ketema to further strengthen their top spot status in the group. It was Dessie that took the lead in the 24th minute of the game thanks to Manaye Fantu. In the second half Hambericho improved their performance and leveled in the 50th minute through Endale Yohannes’s header and talisman Dagem Bekelle got the winner in the 81st minute.
Second placed side Silte Wurabe got a resounding 3-0 win against Omedla. Goals from Mattias Elias, Musefin Yasin, and Daniel Tadesse secured the three points. Silte are 6 points behind top spot.
In the rest of the fixtures Sodo Ketema and Damot Ketema drew 1-1, Kolfe Keranio drew 0-0 with Yeka Kifle Ketema. The two games on Friday also ended in draws as both Jimma Aba Jifar vs Robe Ketema and Negele Arsi vs Gelen Ketema ended 1-1.
