Farouk Shikhalo Returns to Kenya

Former Kidus Giorgis and Kenyan international goalkeeper Farouk Shikhalo has officially returned to his homeland, sealing a move to Nairobi United.

Shikhalo spent the recently concluded season in the Ethiopian Premier League with Addis Ababa giants Kidus Giorgis, where he established himself as a mainstay in goal featuring in 32 league matches. Following the expiration of his contract the veteran custodian took to Instagram last week to post a farewell message expressing his gratitude to the Horsemen supporters, management, and his teammates. “Thank you to the St. George family for the incredible journey and support throughout the season,” Shikhalo shared in his farewell post.

The move marks another major chapter in Shikhalo’s traveling career. Prior to his stint in Ethiopia, he turned out for Kenyan Premier League sides KCB, Bandari FC, Posta Rangers, and Kakamega Homeboyz, as well as Tanzanian Young Africans.

By adding an experienced goalkeeper ambitious Nairobi United signals serious intent to strengthen their backline and push for top-flight promotion in the upcoming campaign.
