Welwalo Agree Deals for Two New Signings and Two Renewals

CAF Confederation Cup participants Welwalo AU have continued their active presence in the transfer window, reaching agreements to sign two new players while renewing the contracts of two squad members.

Mamadou Sekou has agreed terms to join the Yellows. The Senegalese defensive midfielder spent the last six months of the season with Arbaminch following previous spells at Senegalese sides Generation Foot, Teungueth, and ASC Jaraaf, as well as Moghreb Tétouan, AS Vita Club, and Al-Fotuwa. Having completed a preliminary agreement after his brief stint with Arbaminch, he is expected to sign his contract upon his return to Ethiopia.

Veteran versatile defender Ahmed Reshid has also agreed to join Welwalo. Capable of operating as both a central defender and a full back, the former Ethiopia Bunna, Mechal, Adama, and Bahir Dar defender agree to play for Welwalo following the end of contract with Diredawa.

Meanwhile, Semere Haftay has agreed to remain with the club. After returning to his boyhood side last season, Semere enjoyed a successful campaign that culminated in winning the Ethiopian Cup. Having started his career at Welwalo, he has also played for Raya Azebo, Mechal, and spent three seasons with Hadiya Hossana.

Winger Simon Maru has extended his contract for another year. A product of the club’s youth side who has served the senior team for the past seven years, Simeon delivered strong performances last season. He becomes the third player to renew his contract this window after Netsanet Gebremedhin and his longtime teammate Semere Haftay.

These latest deals follow Welwalo’s earlier moves to extend the contracts of Netsanet Gebremedhin and head coach Girma Tadesse, alongside securing agreements to sign Eyob Alemayehu, Bereket Samuel, and Carlos Damtew.
