CBE and Ethiopian national team star Mesay Temesgen is set to make a move to Tanzania’s Yanga Princess, Soccer Ethiopia can confirm.
Having developed through the Ethiopian Sport Academy, Mesay went on to feature for Ethio Electric, Mechal and CBE. She has represented the Ethiopian women’s national team across all age groups, establishing herself as one of the country’s top attackers.
Mesay played a key role in CBE’s 2024 CECAFA Women’s Champions League title win where she was named the best player of the tournament. While Yanga Princes have yet to officially unveil the signing, core agreements have already been finalized.
Mesay’s move further underscores the growing trend of Ethiopian international talent heading to the Tanzanian top flight. She will team up with fellow Ethiopian international Aregash Kalsa at Yanga Princes. Meanwhile arch rivals Simba Queens recently added forward Senaf Wakuma to their roster, continuing a path previously blazed by Ethiopian players such as Nyebuony Yien and Ariet Odong, both of whom had spells with Yanga.
