The title race exploded into life as Fasil Kenema are now 3 points shy of leaders Kidus Giorgis after they edge past Sebeta while Jimma Aba Jiffare on the last gasp also took all three points in their quest for a late resurgence.
In the 10 am kickoff relegation threatened Jimma Aba Jiffar stun Hadiya Hossana, Dawit Estifanose’s breathtaking free kick goal proved to be the difference separating both sides.
The major talking point of the game was both goalies made crucial saves to keep their side in the match but Mesay Ayano couldn’t do a thing to stop Dawit’s free kick.
Meanwhile, the 4 pm kickoff which was scrutinized by off pitch issues saw Fasil Kenema going with all the three points against bottom side Sebeta Ketema.
Sebeta Ketema were making headlines for the wrong reasons as the several players boycotted training sessions for the past three weeks and most of the players arrived in Bahirdar two hours prior to kickoff after the Ethiopian football federation interfered and order the players to return to duty in a letter sent to the club a few days ago.
What we saw on the pitch was a completely different story as Sebeta players gave their maximum effort and gave Fasil Kenema a tough test, Yared Bayeh’s 35th minute strike proved to be the difference for Fasil Kenema backed by their colorful traveling supporters.
Following Kidus Giorgis’s draw, Fasil Kenema capitalized and narrowed the gap to only three points with four games to play for.
