CBE Add Three New Signings
CBE have continued their transfer activity by signing three new players, just days after renewing contracts with three of their squad members Endale Yohannes, Yonas Legesse, and Dawit Yohannes.
The first signing is experienced goalkeeper George Desta, who has featured for several Premier League and Higher League clubs over the years. Last season, he enjoyed an impressive spell with Dessie Ketema, conceding the fewest goals in the league.
Midfielder Mesfin Wasie also joins the club on a two-year deal. Mesfin is a product of the Ethiopia Medhin youth system, where he progressed from the youth ranks to the first team. He played a vital role in the club’s promotion to the Premier League and was part of the squad that later lifted the league title.
The third addition is midfielder Biruk Bitsueamlak, who began his journey in Bishoftu before going on to represent Negelle Arsi and the now-defunct Gelan. Biruk first joined CBE in 2015, helping them secure promotion to the top-tier league and later contributing to their 2023/24 Premier League championship win. After spending last season with Dessie, Biruk has now rejoined CBE on a two-year contract.
Wolaita Dicha Promote Two Prospects to the First Team
Wolaita Dicha have promoted two promising players to their senior squad, continuing the club’s tradition of integrating young talent into the first team.
The two players, Efeson Kidane and Abenezer Alemayehu, are standout performers in the club’s U-17 team and the “ROAD to 2029 National Camping” program. They were also among the seven players recently selected for training with the Ethiopia National Team camp.
Head coach Gebrekristos Birara confirmed that Efeson and Abenezer have been directly promoted to the first team. Both players took part in today’s practice match against the Ethiopia National Team at Addis Ababa Stadium, showing promising performances. Notably, Efeson Kidane scored one of the two goals for Wolaita Dicha during the match.
Adama Ketema Joins the Transfer Window
Adama Ketema has begun participating in the transfer window, following a period of inactivity in player acquisitions.
The club, under new head coach Seyoum Kebede, has been scouting several players over the past few days to strengthen the squad for the upcoming season. While the club was initially hesitant, it has now confirmed that they are set to finalize the signing of goalkeeper Alazar Markos.
Alazar began his career in Hawassa, progressing from the youth ranks to the senior team. He later played for Jima Aba Jifar and spent the last two seasons with Bahir Dar Ketema. Alazar was previously recognized as goalkeeper of the tournament in the 2019 CECAFA U-17 tournament and was selected as a promising player in the 2021/22 Premier League season.
According to our sources, the Rift Valley club plans to make further signings in the coming days, entering the transfer market with the goal of strengthening its squad ahead of the new season.
Wolwalo Signs Ghanaian Forward
Konconi Hafiz has agreed to join Wolwalo after a good season with Ethiopia Bunna. Hafiz joined Bunna from Tanzanian giants Young Africans and left a strong impression during his time at the club.
Having started his career at Bolga All Stars in his home country, Hafiz has since played for Bekem United in Ghana, Alsancak Yesilova and Baf Ülkü Yurdu in Northern Cyprus, as well as Olympic Azzawiya in Libya and Young Africans in Tanzania, before moving to Ethiopia in 2024.
In his single season with Ethiopia Bunna, the striker featured in 29 matches, playing 2,209 minutes, and scored seven goals in the Premier League and one in the Ethiopian Cup.
Binyam Agrees to Join Shire Midregenet
Shire Midregenet have agreed terms with Binyam Lankamo as their fifth signing of the transfer window.
Binyam spent last season with Fasil Kenema, having initially signed a two-year contract with the Emperors. After one season, he mutually agreed to part ways with the club despite having a year left on his deal. During his time at Fasil, he made 19 appearances, played 1,160 minutes, and scored two goals.
The winger previously featured for Sidama Bunna, Mechal, Woldia, and most recently Fasil Kenema. He now becomes Shire Midregenet’s fifth reinforcement of the window.
