Ethiopian International Signs for Moroccan Side RS Berkane
Ethiopian striker Ariet Odong has completed a move to Moroccan club Renaissance Sportive de Berkane, following a one-year stint with Tanzanian giants Young Africans Ladies.
Odong’s football journey began at the Ethiopian Sport Academy, where she developed her skills before rising through the national ranks to represent Ethiopia at various youth levels and eventually the senior women’s national team.
At club level, she previously featured for Addis Ababa Ketema and CBE, before making the switch to Tanzania’s Yanga. Her latest move to Morocco marks another big step in her career.
Ghanaian Defender Close to Joining the Champions
Experienced defender Ismail Abdul Ganiu has agreed personal terms with the club. Abdul Ganiu, who spent the last two seasons with Dire Dawa Ketema, was one of the club’s standout performers in the recently concluded campaign. He featured in 29 matches, totaling 2,583 minutes of play and scoring two goals for the Oranges.
The defender previously represented Ghanaian clubs WA All Stars, Karela United, and Asante Kotoko, as well as having stints abroad with Iraqi side Al-Talaba and DR Congo’s TP Mazembe. He is now set to join Ethiopia Medhin.
Two Players Dropped from Walias Squad Ahead of Cairo Trip
The national team, which began preparations 12 days ago with a 26-man roster, will now travel with 23 players after forward Kitika Jima withdrew from the squad eariler due to personal reasons. Coach Messay also decided that forward Ahmed Hussein and midfielder Biniam Ayten will not be part of the traveling squad.
Head coach Messey Teferi will conduct the team’s final training session tomorrow and will have a media updates ahead of the squad’s departure to Cairo in the evening.
Pharaohs Announce Squad for Ethiopia Clash
The Egyptian national team has officially named its squad ahead of Friday’s World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia. Head coach Hossam Hassan has called up 25 players, including four goalkeepers, nine defenders, eight midfielders, and four forwards. Among the high profile names are Liverpool star Mohamed Salah and Manchester City’s Omar Marmoush, both included in the squad list.
Fetudin Jemal Agrees to Join Mechal
Defender Fetudin Jemal, who captained Ethiopia Nigd Bank to the 2023/24 Premier League title, has agreed terms to join Mechal.
The former Bahir Dar Ketema, Sidama Bunna, Ethiopia Bunna, and Wolaita Dicha player spent the last two seasons with Nigd Bank, where he played a key role in their first ever championship winning campaign.
Following his departure from the Bankers, the experienced defender has now chosen Mechal as his next destination.

Young Defender agree to renew Contract
Promising defender Zera’senay Birhane, who impressed last season with consistent performances, has agreed to extend his contract with Mekelle 70 Enderta for another year.
The youngster made his Premier League debut last season and quickly established himself as one of the club’s standout players. He featured in 25 matches, amassing 2,002 minutes of playtime while providing solid contributions to the team’s backline.
After a breakthrough campaign, Zera’senay has committed his future to Mekelle 70 Enderta by signing a one-year contract extension.
Adama Agree with Buzayehu Seyfe
Adama Ketema have agreed terms to sign midfielder Buzayehu Seyfe, who spent the past two seasons with Wolaita Dicha.
Buzayehu began his professional career in his hometown of Robe, later making his Premier League debut in 2021/22 with Addis Ababa Ketema. He then had a two-year stint at Wolkite and Wolaita Dicha. Now the talented midfielder has agreed to join Adama Ketema.
