Ethiopian Born Midfielder Joins QPR
18 year old midfielder Isak Alemayehu has signed English Championship side Queens Park Rangers after departing Swedish club Djurgården, where he still had one year left on his contract.
Born to an Ethiopian father and an El Salvadoran mother, Isak was also reportedly close to joining Scottish giants Rangers,the same club where former Ethio-American midfielder Gedion Zelalem once played.
Ethio Electric Signs Midfielder Habib Jaleto
Ethio Electric have secured the signing of defensive midfielder Habib Jaleto, who had a good season with Benchi Maji Bunna in the recently ended Higher League campiagn.
Habib has previously featured for Batu Ketema, Sendafa Beke, and Benchi Maji Bunna, and will now continue his career under the guidance of head coach Zerihun Shengeta at Ethio Electric.
Shire Completes Triple Transfer
Shire Midregenet have strengthened their squad with three new signings. Striker Abel Mamush, who featured for Bahir Dar Ketema last season, joins alongside central defender Addis Tesfaye, a league winner with Ethiopia Medhin, and midfielder Sintayehu Waleche from Ethiopia Bunna.
Ethiopia Announce Venue for October Encounter
The Ethiopian Football Federation has confirmed that the national team will host their October World cup qualifier clash against Guinea-Bissau at Amahoro Stadium in Rwanda. The announcement was made by EFF CEO Bahiru Tilahun.
Ethiopia was forced to seek an alternative venue after being sanctioned from using home grounds due to the absence of CAF-approved stadiums in the country.
Hadiya Hossana Secures Four New Players
Hadiya Hossana have strengthened their squad with the addition of four players from the Higher League. The new signings include defensive midfielder Jeylan Kemal, wingers Abush Derbe and Tefera Anley, all from Dessie Ketema as well as defender Tesfahun Seboksa from Injibara Ketema.
The club has also confirmed a contract extension for Tsega’ab Gizaw.
Negele Arsi Enters Transfer Market with Two Signings
2024/25 Ethiopian Higher League champions Negele Arsi have made their first moves in the transfer market, bringing in two new players.
Attacking midfielder Dawit Tefera joins the newly promoted side after a title winning campaign with Ethiopia Medhin. The former Jimma Aba Bunna, Kidus Giorgis, and Sidama Bunna player spent the past two seasons at Medhin, where he played a key role in their success.
The club’s second addition is young striker Natnael Solomon, who arrived at Welwalo Adigrat University last season after leaving Nib and has now agreed to continue his career with Arsi.
Meanwhile, Negele Arsi have also confirmed that head coach Bereket Tulu has extended his contract for another year, ensuring continuity as the club prepares for its debut in the top flight.
