Kidus Giorgis (St. George) once again proved their dominance by lifting the 19th Addis Ababa City Renaissance Cup after a hard-fought 2–1 victory over old rivals Mechal in today’s final.
The thrilling encounter kicked off at 3:30 PM at the Addis Ababa Stadium in front of a large and vibrant crowd. The Horsemen, who earned their place in the final after edging archrivals Ethiopia Bunna in the semifinals, showed their trademark composure and determination when it mattered most.
Ashenafi Getachew opened the scoring for Kidus Giorgis before Charles Musige leveled for Mechal. Adisu Atula then sealed the win with a decisive goal that sparked celebrations among the fans.
With this triumph, Kidus Giorgis claimed their eighth Addis Ababa City Cup title and strengthened their record as the most successful club in the tournament’s history.
The champions received gold medals while Mechal finished as runners-up and took home the silver medal. Ethiopia Bunna secured third place and Ethiopia Nigd Bank received the Fair Play Award.
